Just Words® student population
Students in grades 4-12 and adults with decoding and or spelling scores in the 15th - 50th percentile range

Screening and Placement Assessments
- District Reading Scores
- Test of Silent Word Reading Fluency (TOSWRF)
- Word Identification and Spelling Test (WIST)
SCREENING
- Identification of students with standardized reading score below 50th percentile
- Screening with TOSWRF and WIST Spelling (Use the Secondary Form for grades 6 through adult) These screening measures can be group administered
- Identify Students for Just Words Program
- TOSWRF percentile scores between 15 -50%
and / or
- WIST spelling percentile rank between 15-50%
PLACEMENT
Once a student has been identified as qualifying for the JUST WORDS program, then the WIST subtest will be individually administered for class placement. Students will be assigned to groups/classes using the WIST Fundamental Literacy Ability Index percentile rank:
Group A: 15 - 30%
Group B: 31 - 50%
